As we study the book of James there is going to be a great deal on the Christian walk, which is a metaphor for living the Christian life. So one of the themes is “Walk”. So at Bethel Church in Northwest Indiana where Steve DeWitt serves as senior pastor, we hung a banner with the word, WALK. The other major theme in the book has to do with our speech. We will find out that God cares about what we say. And soa second banner was displayed that just says, “Talk”.
At the root of both is that if our faith is genuine, it will have a major impact on our walk and on our talk and every dimension of our lives.

This Month's Resource
We are pleased to introduce you to an encouraging and lfie-giving book about a lifetime of walking and talking: Humility: The Journey Toward Holiness.
In twelve brief but powerful meditations, this Christian classic from nineteenth-century minister and author Andrew Murray underscores the need of Christians to turn from pride, empty themselves, and study the character of Christ, who will then fill them with His grace.
We want to send you Andrw Murray's Humility Humilty is a perfect companion to the Book of James we are studying this month on The Journey. We want to send Humility to you as our way of saying “Thank you!” when you make a donation to support The Journey. Would you support The Journey this month?
The repeated cry of James is that faith apart from works can never be sustained. We should proclaim this truth because faith makes us doers of the Word, not just hearers. Faith keeps us humble, not proud; directs our tongues to bless, not to curse. Faith causes us to preach the good news to every tribe, tongue, and nation. This is the message of James: Faith/Works.
