Little Letters for Big Faith

A Study of 2nd & 3rd John and Jude

The Bible has some really short books, 3 of the 5 shortest books of the Bible are 2 John, 3 John, and Jude. These are the ones that, when you are reading your Bible, you feel a sense of accomplishment by reading a whole book of the Bible, even though they only have a couple hundred words. We have entitled the series, Little Letters for Big Faith. Big things come in small packages. Or, to quote the tiny Roman soldiers from the movie Night at the Museum, “We may be small, but our hearts are large.”

The heart behind 2 and 3 John was large; the heart was none other than the Apostle John. He is known as the apostle of Love. The theme of love streams through the little letters: God’s love for us, our love for God, avoiding loving the world, and actively loving one another. Love. Love. Love.

In this series, Pastor Steve explains how we can grow big faith as we learn to trust the Lord, resist sin, lean into the Gospel and love others. You may want to share this series with a friend or family member who has questions about Jesus' teaching and the Gospel message.

Seeking The Kingdom Bible Study

According to 2 John, you can’t have truth without love, and vice versa. John says our obedience to God should be motivated by love and informed by truth. The keyword of 3 John is “welcome.” Fellowship with God, sharing the gospel, and walking in truth and love produce a spirit of hospitality. Study alongside Dr. J. Vernon McGee as he leads the way through these brief yet impactful books.
